ABOUT US

A Place Where Neurodivergence Is Not Just Accepted…It’s Celebrated.

At The Neuro Nest, we believe that neurodivergent people don’t need to be “fixed”, they need to be understood, respected, and supported in ways that honour their unique ways of being. That’s why we created a space where children, teens, and young adults can feel truly seen and safe without judgment, pressure, or the need to mask.

We’re not a clinic. We’re a community space. A sensory-friendly sanctuary. A place built on lived experience, neurokinship, and deep belief in the power of connection.

Whether a young person comes to us for therapy, mentoring, play, or social time, what they’ll find here is a place to belong.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

At the heart of The Neuro Nest is a simple but powerful truth:

Neurodiversity is a natural and valuable part of human variation.

We reject the idea that there is one “right” way to learn, play, communicate, or grow. Instead, we centre neurodivergent voices, preferences, and passions in everything we do. That means no rigid goals, no pushing for eye contact, and no pathologising behaviours like stimming or special interests.

We support authenticity, autonomy, and joy every step of the way.

OUR SPACE

Designed for Safety, Regulation, and Joy

The Neuro Nest is based in a welcoming, residential-style clubhouse. Our space includes:

  • Sensory-friendly zones where noise, lighting, and textures are considered

  • Flexible play areas with fidgets, movement toys, crafts, and quiet spaces

  • Non-clinical furniture (think comfy couches, not exam tables)

  • Nature-inspired elements to support calm and curiosity

This environment helps our participants feel at ease, regulate their nervous systems, and engage on their own terms. It’s a space where being yourself is the norm, not the exception.

Families Are Part of the Nest, Too

We know that family systems matter, and no child or young person exists in isolation. That’s why we offer:

  • Parent/carer support and education

  • Info sessions and resources

  • Guidance on NDIS navigation

  • A listening ear when things feel overwhelming

We work with families, not around them. Always respecting the deep knowledge and insight you bring about your child.

OUR APPROACH

Strengths-Based. Interest-Led. Relationship-First.

We support growth by following what each person already loves, whether it’s Minecraft, baking, building things, or jumping on the trampoline.

Using evidence-informed practices like:

  • Child-Centred Play Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Interoceptive Coaching

  • Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS)

  • Polyvagal and trauma-informed strategies

We focus on what works for the individual, not what works on paper. We adapt our approaches to fit the person, not the other way around.

WHY WE EXIST

Because too many neurodivergent young people are told they’re “too much” or “not enough.”

Because the world often expects them to conform rather than meet them where they are. Because difference should be supported, not suppressed.

At The Neuro Nest, we’re building a different kind of space. One where:

  • You don’t have to mask

  • You don’t have to be “school ready” to be worthy

  • You don’t have to meet milestones on anyone else’s timeline

Just by being here, just by being you…you belong.
